Portuguese Holy Ghost Soup - Sopas do Espírito Santo

This sopas is traditionally served in the Azores during the Holy Ghost Festival or Festa. This dish has a rich history and rich flavor. A delicious slow-cooker beef recipe anytime.

Ingredients: Dried chopped onion, tomato powder, red wine powder, garlic flakes, Portuguese all-spice, minced garlic, salt, ground black pepper, cumin, bay leaves.

Easy Recipe on the Back of Package

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of Holy Ghost Soup Seasoning Mix
  • 3 pounds beef roast (boneless chuck roast)
  • 1 link chourico or linguica (optional)
  • 1 head of green cabbage, cut into quarters
  • 4 cups water
  • Mint leaves
  • Thick sliced, day-old Portuguese, Italian or crusty artisan bread.


Directions:

  1. Mix seasoning mix and water to bottom of slow cooker.
  2. Add beef and place sausage and cabbage around meat.
  3. Cover and cook on high for 5 hours or on low for 10 hours.
  4. To serve, place slices of bread in each soup plate topped with mint leaves. Ladle a generous amount of broth over the bread to soften followed with topping it off with pieces of meat and cabbage. Garnish with mint leaves.
